Thailand Accused of Bombing Bridge in Cambodia

Cambodia's Ministry of Defense reported on Saturday that the Thai Army bombed a concrete bridge in Cambodian territory using an F-16 combat aircraft. "At 22:58 local time (Saturday), the Thai Army deployed an F-16 fighter jet to drop two bombs, destroying the civilian O'Jik bridge in the border area between Chong Kal district of Oddar Meanchey province and Srei Snam district of Siem Reap province," stated the ministry's spokesperson, Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, at a press conference. Socheata added that as of Saturday morning, Thai military forces continued to fire artillery shells at several positions in Cambodia, according to information received by the Argentine News Agency from Xinhua, to which it is subscribed. According to the latest figures published by the Ministry of the Interior, the border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand has resulted in 18 civilian deaths and 79 others injured in Cambodian territory to date. It has also forced more than 510,000 people to flee their homes in search of safe shelters.
